The project
Airbus has built a strong safety track record over many years, establishing systems, processes, and procedures to help manage safety risks and support their ambition to constantly drive towards zero Incidents and zero accidents. Their challenge was to create interactive learning guides that take the safety focus to the next level, embedding a culture that truly empowers safety at every level in the organisation.
Creating the right culture for empowering safety starts with leaders throughout Airbus. We worked with EHS colleagues to create a virtual safety leadership programme that engaged leaders from across the business in their role to create the right environment for empowering safety.
We designed an interactive programme that drew on 10 fundamentals for safety leadership, and was piloted with the executive team before being cascaded to leaders through the business in leadership team groups. Feedback from the Executive team pilot was hugely positive, engaging them in leading workshops for their own teams alongside their EHS business partners.
The interactive toolkit included digital modules designed to support teams focusing on safety risks and controls and questions to ask their teams.
Created large format posters to drive conversation and engage teams. Provided incident cards to build experience in successfully dealing with real hazards.
