The project
Design Fuel was responsible for the full suite of creative design assets that transformed 59 Greek Street into a fully immersive Blockbuster experience. We designed all exterior and interior signage to evoke the instantly recognisable Blockbuster aesthetic, created custom VHS cases that mimicked classic movie rentals (each linked to a digital streaming code), and produced nostalgic membership cards that doubled as take-home keepsakes.

We also developed shelf talkers, point-of-sale displays, and chill-out zone graphics featuring retro TV visuals to complete the 90s vibe. Throughout the space, KitKat’s new sharing bars were seamlessly integrated into the design, reinforcing the brand’s “Break Better” message in a fun, memorable way.

Visitors were invited to browse shelves of iconic VHS titles, select a movie, and exchange the case for a free KitKat sharing bar and a Rakuten streaming code. The space was designed to encourage people to slow down, disconnect from their phones, and reconnect with the joy of shared downtime — perfectly aligned with KitKat’s new “Break Better” mission.

The pop-up generated significant buzz across social media and press, tapping into collective nostalgia while promoting KitKat’s new product line in a meaningful, memorable way. Design Fuel’s creative execution helped turn a simple product launch into a fully immersive brand experience — one that resonated emotionally and visually with a wide audience.
